British GP – Hamilton on Pole

OK, I’m getting caught up in the hype myself now, but what a blinding performance by Hamilton! This season is proving to be really fantastic, blowing away all the cobwebs and bringing excitement back to the sport. That is the first time for a long time that I have been genuinely sat on the edge of my seat when watching qualifying, not sure what the neighbours though when Hamilton took pole! 😎

There were a few great moments, Alonso trying to take Hamilton out of the pit lane, Heidfeld being cheeky round the outside of Raikonnen, Alonso flying on the hard tyres.

I really thought Hamilton had buckled under the pressure, and was looking set for 4th, with the final duel to be between the Ferraris and Alonso. Alonso firmly staked his claim with his final flying lap, and that looked all sewn up as Massa failed to improve just behind him, then Raikonnen went wide on the last corner, kicking up dust and was certainly coming in 2nd or 3rd, yet crossed the lines just in the 1m20s and took provisional pole. I was stunned. Oh well, Lewis might wrestle 3rd off Massa, hang on, he’s ahead after the 2nd sector despite being behind at the first – from out of nowhere he crossed the line with a time of 1:19.997! Get in, now let’s hope he can capitalise on that in the race and bring home the win we really want, and help put the current ‘spy’ fiasco behind McLaren.
